Jakarta – Prime Minister or President of the Government of Spain Pedro Sánchez congratulated presidential candidate number 2 Prabowo Subianto who emerged victorious in the 2024 presidential election.
The congratulations were conveyed through an official letter with the letterhead El Presidente Del Gobierno dated February 27, 2024. The letter was delivered by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain, Francisco de Asis Aguilera Aranda, to the Ministry of Defense office on Friday (15/3).
“I would like to extend my congratulations on Your Excellency’s victory in the presidential election on February 14,” Pedro said in his letter to Prabowo.
Pedro also expressed his confidence in Prabowo’s experience and good performance to lead Indonesia in the future.
He also revealed that Spain and Indonesia have successfully developed an extraordinary relationship, both bilaterally and in multilateral forums attended by both countries, especially in the G-20.
This relationship, according to Pedro, is based on common principles and values, which fundamentally adhere to international peace and security, and respect for international law regulations in supporting the United Nations system and cooperation to address climate emergencies.
“Spain will continue to strengthen its relations with Indonesia. I take this opportunity to express my highest appreciation to the President-elect,” he said.
Prabowo also expressed his gratitude for the congratulations from Pedro. He stated this in a post on his personal Instagram account @prabowo, on Friday.
Prabowo stated that the bilateral relationship between Indonesia and Spain will be further enhanced through strategic partnerships in the fields of economy, defense, and culture, as well as the deep friendship that has been closely established.
