Jakarta – Prabowo Subianto, the President-elect of Indonesia for the 2024-2029 term, has expressed his appreciation and pride for the Indonesian medical team responsible for the successful surgery on his leg. He shared his sentiments on his personal Instagram account @prabowo on Sunday (June 30).
“Good evening everyone, I want to express my gratitude to Allah SWT and the medical team led by Brigadier General (Ret.) Dr. Robert Hutauruk, Colonel Dr. Sunaryo, Dr. Siska Widayati, assisted by Dr. Thomas, and all the nurses and medical staff at the RSPPN Sudirman for the successful major surgery performed on me,” Prabowo said.
The hospital where the surgery took place was inaugurated in February by President Joko Widodo and Prabowo. It is under the Ministry of Defense’s supervision, renovated and equipped by Prabowo along with 25 other military hospitals.
Prabowo explained that the injury he suffered was a result of two parachuting accidents during his time in the Indonesian National Armed Forces.
“As many of you know, I had two parachuting accidents while in the military in the 1980s, which affected my left leg and has been a lasting injury,” he said.
He recognized the risks and seriousness of the medical procedure he underwent but believed it was necessary.
“All of this is for the country and the nation. I trust in the capabilities and professionalism of the medical team and staff handling my case,” Prabowo stated.
Prabowo mentioned that the successful surgery took place a week ago and he is now ready to resume his duties.
“With my health restored, I am more ready than ever to serve and dedicate myself to Indonesia and its people. Thank you to everyone for their prayers and support,” he concluded.
