Prabowo: Merah Putih Cooperatives Prioritize People Over Profit

President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, in a recent event in Bentangan Village, Klaten, emphasized the importance of the Merah Putih Village Cooperatives in improving the welfare of the people. He highlighted the need for strict monitoring to prevent any misuse of the cooperatives, referring to past issues during the New Order era where cooperatives were joked to prioritize the chairman’s profits. President Prabowo mentioned that the new cooperative system incorporates technology and transparency to ensure real-time monitoring and auditing of financial transactions. He urged village heads to actively supervise the cooperative chairpersons to ensure the initiative benefits the community as intended. Using a traditional metaphor, he emphasized the strength of unity in cooperatives, turning the weak into a strong economic force through mutual cooperation. President Prabowo expressed confidence that this movement would rejuvenate Indonesia’s rural economy and shift the focus of resources from cities to villages. The President’s vision is to redirect funds to the grassroots level, enhancing economic activity in regencies, districts, and villages.
