Deputy Minister for Population and Family Development, Ratu Ayu Isyana Bagoes Oka, emphasized the importance of parents staying updated on their children’s interests and engaging in physical activities with them to prevent addiction to games and gadgets. This message was conveyed during the Double Check discussion on The Role of Family Development in Welcoming a Golden Indonesia 2045 organized by the Presidential Communication Office (PCO) in collaboration with Gempita. Isyana stressed the need for parents to keep learning and adapting to the fast-changing online landscape, as children tend to learn quicker than their parents. She pointed out that children often seek instant gratification, easily found in social media scrolling and online gaming, which can lead to addiction. To combat this, she suggested involving children in sports and outdoor activities to provide a healthy source of dopamine. Veronica Tan, Deputy Minister for Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection, also shared about the RBI program, aimed at creating safe and inclusive spaces for women, children, and communities to empower them, encourage creativity, and steer them away from gadget addiction. Through initiatives like RBI, children can access safe environments for traditional games, creative activities, and sports, promoting a balanced lifestyle and reducing dependency on gadgets.
