Prabowo Halts SOE Commissioner Bonuses: People’s Impact

President Prabowo Subianto has once again stated his commitment to reforming Indonesia’s state-owned enterprises (SOEs) by eliminating the practice of giving bonuses, known as tantiem, to SOE commissioners. Speaking at the Apkasi Otonomi Expo 2025 at ICE BSD in Tangerang, Prabowo highlighted the mismanagement of SOE assets and their scattering over the years. Through the consolidation of these assets under Danantara, Indonesia has now secured a significant global financial presence, with a sovereign fund ranking fifth worldwide. Despite this achievement, Prabowo criticized the awarding of bonuses to SOE commissioners, especially during financial losses, deeming it unfair. He emphasized the need to abolish these bonuses as part of a wider reform agenda aimed at fostering integrity and professionalism within state-owned companies. Prabowo firmly stated that those who oppose these reforms will not be tolerated, as there are numerous young individuals willing to take on the responsibility.
