Indonesian Political Indicator has recently conducted a survey regarding the presidential election dispute at the Constitutional Court (MK). The survey results indicate that 63.4 percent of the public do not agree with the annulment of the nomination of Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka as participants in the 2024 election. Furthermore, 68.6 percent also disagree with the idea of holding a re-election without the pair of Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
During a press briefing on Sunday (April 21, 2024), Burhanudin Muhtadi, the Director of Indonesian Political Indicator, mentioned that “Nearly 69 percent completely disagree” with the annulment.
The survey also revealed that 47.8 percent of the public are aware of the General Election Commission’s (KPU) decision on the 2024 election results, and 73.8 percent trust that decision.
Burhanudin further explained that “Regarding the ongoing proceedings of the 2024 presidential election result dispute at the MK, approximately 52.6 percent are aware, and 71.8 percent of the majority believe that the MK will issue a fair decision regarding the dispute.”
The survey, which took place on April 4-5, 2024, involved 1,201 respondents using the random digit dialing (RDD) method. The target population for this survey includes Indonesian citizens aged 17 and above or those who are married and own a telephone/cellphone, representing about 83% of the national population.
The margin of error for the survey is approximately ±2.9% at a 95% confidence level, assuming simple random sampling. The interviews were conducted by telephone by trained interviewers.
