Hasan Nasbi, a member of the Communication Division of the Prabowo-Gibran Synchronization Task Force, clarified that the circulating rumor about cutting the budget for nutritious free meals for school students to IDR 7,500 per child is not an official statement from the team. Economist Heriyanto Irawan from Verdhana Sekuritas initially spread the rumor after claiming to have discussed the matter with Prabowo’s team.
Hasan emphasized that the main focus of President-elect Prabowo Subianto and Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka is to provide meals that meet nutritional standards. He mentioned that the cost per child is still under review with various suggestions being considered, and no specific figure has been decided yet.
The regions in Indonesia have diverse nutritional sources, leading to different local menus in each area. The fulfillment of nutritional standards will be adjusted based on the availability of food ingredients and local menus in each region.
Gibran also reacted to the rumor, urging everyone not to speculate on uncertain matters and to wait for official confirmation. He mentioned that the ongoing trials for nutritious free meals currently use a budget of IDR 15,000 per person.
