President-elect Prabowo Subianto expressed his concern over the habit of Indonesians insulting each other, particularly targeting leaders without acknowledging their contributions.
Speaking at the closing of the 3rd Congress of the National Democrat Party (NasDem) at JCC, Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday, August 27, Prabowo lamented the constant belittlement and insults towards leaders.
He commended President Joko Widodo’s achievements, highlighting his ability to maintain inflation at 2.5%, a feat that has garnered praise from many countries.
Prabowo emphasized that such accomplishments require hard work and dedication, rather than being a stroke of luck.
Regarding Indonesia’s quick recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic under Jokowi’s leadership, Prabowo underscored the significance of this achievement, attributing it to strategic planning rather than coincidence.
“I am not here to defend anyone, but I believe in speaking the truth, whether it is in favor or against someone,” he clarified.
Expressing gratitude to NasDem for their support, Prabowo emphasized the importance of unity in nation-building efforts, urging continued collaboration for the betterment of Indonesia.
“Thank you to NasDem for standing by me. Together, we are stronger, and together, we will demonstrate our commitment to the people of Indonesia,” Prabowo concluded. (RR)
