Prabowo Reminisces Receiving Peru’s Highest Honor During Meeting with President

During an official visit by Peruvian President Dina Boluarte to Indonesia, President Prabowo Subianto took a moment to reflect on the honor he received in 2024. He shared the memory of being awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of the Sun of Peru, the highest distinction granted by the Peruvian government, during a joint press statement at Merdeka Palace in Central Jakarta. This honor, bestowed in recognition of his role as the President of the Republic of Indonesia, symbolized the strong diplomatic ties between the two nations since 1975.

In a gesture of reciprocity, President Prabowo presented President Boluarte with Indonesia’s highest award, the Bintang Republik Indonesia Adipurna, acknowledging her contributions to enhancing bilateral friendship and cooperation. The ceremony held great significance as it reinforced the commitment to fostering and strengthening the partnership between Indonesia and Peru in the years to come.

Furthermore, the meeting between the two leaders resulted in the signing of cooperation agreements in various crucial areas such as narcotics eradication, combating illicit trade, food security, mining, energy transition, fisheries, and defense. These agreements underscored the shared commitment of Indonesia and Peru towards addressing common challenges and promoting mutual interests on the international stage.
