Prabowo Free Nutritious Meal Program: 290K Jobs, 1M Farmers Engaged

President Prabowo Subianto highlighted the positive impact of the Makan Bergizi Gratis (Free Nutritious Meal, MBG) program during the Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) at the House of Representatives (DPR) building in Jakarta. Launched eight months ago, the program has already benefitted 20 million recipients, including school children, preschoolers, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers.

The MBG program has established 5,800 Nutritional Service Units (Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi, SPPG) in 38 provinces, creating 290,000 new jobs and involving one million farmers, fishers, livestock breeders, and small and medium-sized enterprises. President Prabowo emphasized that beyond social welfare, MBG aims to build a healthy, intelligent, and productive generation, which the United Nations recognizes as a valuable national investment.

Early signs of success include increased school attendance and improved academic performance, demonstrating Indonesia’s rapid progress compared to other nations like Brazil. The President commended the nation’s capabilities and emphasized the importance of collective efforts in achieving significant milestones.

The Annual Session brought together leaders of state institutions, members of the DPR, Regional Representative Council (DPD), and the entire cabinet to discuss the program’s impact and future prospects.
