Doha, Qatar – Prabowo Subianto, the President-elect of Indonesia for the 2024-2029 period, met with Qatar’s leader, Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, at the Amiri Diwan Palace in Doha, Qatar, on Wednesday (15/5).
“May Your Excellency’s Honor remain healthy and prosperous, continue to succeed, and may the country of Qatar continue to progress and prosper,” said Prabowo.
During the meeting, Prabowo was accompanied by Vice President-elect, Gibran Rakabuming Raka. Discussions focused on enhancing relations between the two countries in various fields, particularly defense.
The Emir of Qatar also expressed his hope to Prabowo and Gibran for further development of bilateral relations.
Next, Prabowo and Gibran held a meeting with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani.
In that meeting, Prabowo and the Qatari PM also discussed developments in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories.
“Thank you for your warm welcome. May the relationship and friendship between Indonesia and Qatar always remain strong, for the benefit of both countries,” said Prabowo.
Also welcoming Prabowo and Gibran at the Amiri Diwan Palace were Qatar’s Defense Minister, H.E. Khalid bin Mohammad Al Attiyah, Head of Amiri Diwan, H.E. Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, H.E. Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi.
