Singapore— The President-elect for the 2024-2029 term, Prabowo Subianto, had a meeting with Singapore’s new Prime Minister Lawrence Wong at the Istana in Singapore on Saturday (1/6).
Prabowo arrived at the Istana in a gray suit and black peci, and was greeted warmly by Wong.
“Good morning, Mr. President-elect,” Lawrence Wong greeted Prabowo.
“How are you? Thank you very much. Once again, congratulations!” Prabowo replied to Lawrence Wong.
Wong, who recently became the Prime Minister of Singapore after the resignation of Lee Hsien Loong, expressed his pleasure in meeting Prabowo again and invited him inside the Istana.
During the meeting, Prabowo thanked Wong for the warm welcome extended to him and the Indonesian delegation at the Opening Reception of the 21st Edition of the IISS Shangri-La Dialogue 2024 held at the Shangri-La Hotel in Singapore on Friday (31/5).
Prabowo, in his role as the defense minister, also conveyed his appreciation for the strong communication and leadership between Indonesia and Singapore. He emphasized Indonesia’s commitment to enhancing bilateral relations, especially in defense cooperation through initiatives like the Defense Cooperation Agreement (DCA) encompassing joint training, maritime security, and educational exchanges.
Later in the day at the Shangri-La Dialogue 2024, Prabowo is set to deliver a special address moderated by the Executive Chairman of the IISS, John Chipman.
