Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto personally escorted Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape to his vehicle on Monday (15/7) after a visit to the Ministry of Defense. The meeting focused on developing ideas and enhancing collaboration between Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, with Prabowo expressing gratitude for James’s visit to the Ministry of Defense in his capacity as the chief of state.
Walking James to his vehicle, the Prime Minister thanked Prabowo, referring to him as the President-elect for the 2024-2029 term.
“Thank you, Mr. President-elect,” James said, exchanging pleasantries and shaking hands with Prabowo.
Prabowo also showed appreciation and respect for James’s delegation and visit, inviting him to wave in front of the media while affectionately holding his arm.
“Thank you,” Prabowo expressed.
After the afternoon meeting, Prabowo mentioned that Indonesia and Papua New Guinea have various areas where they can continue their collaboration.
“There are numerous areas in which we can continue to collaborate. They are dedicated to working with us,” Prabowo said.
He also highlighted the alignment of Papua New Guinea’s national philosophy with that of Indonesia.
“Our goal is to maintain positive relationships. They share the same philosophy as us, aiming to respect all nations and powers. We have a similar perspective on the importance of respecting all nations and are not interested in joining any blocs,” Prabowo stated.
