During his first official visit to Malaysia on Saturday, September 7, Indonesian Defense Minister and President-elect Prabowo Subianto met with the King of Malaysia, His Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim.
The meeting focused on various strategic issues, with Prabowo highlighting his commitment to expanding cooperation between Indonesia and Malaysia.
Prabowo stated, “I value the strong relationship between our two countries and will continue to work towards enhancing our cooperation, particularly in the defense sector.”
He also expressed gratitude for the well wishes and expressed hope for the growth of the partnership for mutual benefit.
Having been close friends for over 40 years since their military training together at Fort Bragg, USA, Prabowo and Sultan Ibrahim shared optimism for the future of bilateral cooperation.
Both leaders looked forward to the upcoming 44th General Border Committee (GBC) Malindo meeting, which aims to strengthen collaboration on border issues.
Prabowo’s visit to Malaysia followed trips to Brunei Darussalam, Laos, and Cambodia, as well as a personal visit to Thailand, where he met with former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and newly elected Prime Minister, Paetongtarn Shinawatra. (RR)
