Hanoi – Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto wrapped up his visit to Hanoi by meeting with Vietnam’s Prime Minister, H.E. Pham Minh Chinh, on Saturday, September 14.
During the meeting, Prabowo reaffirmed Indonesia’s dedication to continuing collaboration in various sectors with Vietnam, a country that Indonesia considers a close and longstanding ally.
“We view Vietnam as a valued friend and partner, and we greatly admire Vietnam’s fight for independence, which has served as an inspiration to people worldwide,” Prabowo stated.
Prabowo also highlighted the significance of upholding regional stability and enhancing the relationship between Indonesia and Vietnam in the future.
Moreover, Prabowo requested Vietnam’s backing for the joint leadership of Indonesia and the United States in the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting Plus Experts’ Working Group (ADMM-Plus EWG) on Military Medicine for the 2024-2027 timeframe.
“Indonesia is also seeking Vietnam’s continuous support for the successful joint leadership of Indonesia and the United States in the ADMM-Plus EWG on Military Medicine for the 2024-2027 period,” Prabowo added.
The meeting was attended by senior Vietnamese officials, including the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, as well as leaders from various ministries like Industry and Trade, Agriculture and Rural Development, Public Security, Defense, Information and Communications, Natural Resources and Environment, Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Vietnam’s Ambassador to Indonesia.
