Jakarta — Prabowo Subianto, Indonesia’s 8th President, accompanied former President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Iriana Jokowi to Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in Jakarta on Sunday afternoon (October 20) as they were getting ready to return to Solo.
Jokowi’s return to Solo happened after the Presidential and Vice-Presidential Inauguration Ceremony for the term 2024–2029 and the official transition from Jokowi to Prabowo.
Prabowo accompanied Jokowi in a convoy that included the Indonesian-made Maung Garuda vehicle. Upon reaching Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, Prabowo saw Jokowi off as he boarded the TNI AU Boeing B737 A7309, which would take him back to his hometown of Solo.
“I entrust the hopes, dreams, and great aspirations of 248 million Indonesians to President General (Ret.) Prabowo Subianto, and I hope he will be given the strength to lead this great nation,” Jokowi said in his message to Prabowo.
In response, Prabowo expressed his best wishes and gratitude. He mentioned that Jokowi consistently reminds him to remain strong and carry the immense responsibility for the nation and its people.
“Yes, we are hoping for the best. He (Jokowi) always advises me to pray for the strength to bear this great responsibility,” Prabowo remarked.
After seeing Jokowi off to Solo, President Prabowo went back to the Presidential Palace to continue with his upcoming official duties. (RR)
