Jakarta – A heartwarming moment took place when Indonesia’s President-elect for the 2024-2029 term, Prabowo Subianto, had a phone conversation with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Wednesday (1/5).
During the conversation, Prabowo expressed his admiration for Justin and his father, Pierre Trudeau, who was also a politician and the 15th Prime Minister of Canada.
“It is a privilege for me to receive your direct call, Justin Trudeau. I have always respected your father and you, your leadership, and I am excited about working and collaborating with you, Mr. Prime Minister,” Prabowo said on Wednesday (1/5).
Justin also showed his respect for talking with Prabowo, mentioning that Canada is prepared to enhance cooperation with Indonesia. He highlighted the importance of Indonesia’s leadership both regionally and globally.
“I am looking forward to meeting you and starting our collaboration. Indonesia’s leadership is significant not only regionally but also globally, and I am eager to learn and progress together,” Justin said.
“You have a lot to contribute, based on your own experiences. I am pleased to meet someone who remembers my father,” he added.
At the end of their conversation, the Canadian Prime Minister asked Prabowo to address him by his first name. “Mr. Prabowo, please call me Justin from now on,” he said.
Prabowo agreed to Justin’s request and expressed his anticipation to meet the Canadian Prime Minister in the future.
“Thank you, Justin, I am truly honored. Thank you very much, I am excited to meet you,” Prabowo concluded.
